Note: I will be using gender inclusive language on this blog. By using traditional gender non-inclusive language, we ignore over half of the human race. As a woman, it has always bothered me that we talk about “mankind” and that i was instructed that if gender is unclear when writing, it was proper to use the pronouns him, his, and he. Women, transgender, non-binary, gender-queer, gender-fluid and other folks are left out of the picture when traditional language is used, and I don’t like leaving people out. So if you see me say they, them, their, themselves and other variations on those words when referring to an individual, I actually do KNOW i’m doing it. I’m not uneducated, i just care about people who have been marginalized, so don’t smugly inform me of the error of my ways.
Also know that i approve the comments that are published on this blog, and i will practice editorial discretion. So if you use slurs against a marginalized group, it won’t be published. If you insult another poster, it won’t be posted. If you use a racial slur, it won’t be published. If you use a ableist slur, it won’t be published. If you are insulting and rude to another poster, it won’t be published. If you disagree in a civil manner, it may be posted.
‘Cuz guess what, folks? This is my blog and i get to define the tone that it takes. I don’t want flame wars, disrespect, hate speech, cruelty or drama here. Live with it! I will.
